Collaborative Teaching Space: A Gift from Covid-19
We, as educators, always thought that we may not be enough for every nuance of the broad based course that we are teaching to the undergrads or the post-grads. But there was never really chance to invite, at our will, the stalwarts of the subject, or the writer of the textbook that they are referring to in the classroom, because it was a 'physical' classroom. But now it is no more.
COVID-19 has opened up a magical space for us. It opened up the world to the classroom, not merely as an add-on but as an organic component. On the other hand, it also opened up the class to the world, thereby allowing 'free' and free exchange of ideas. In this situation, when all you need to introduce a legend to your students is a zoom link and maybe some persuasion skill, aren't you leaving your students shortchanged by not doing so?
I am going to do that from now on. At least bring one globally renowned researcher of the field will feature in each of my courses. Will your?
